Eggheads: Eggdrop's channel logs with UTF-8

Hello,

   My Eggdrop 1.6.15 guards a channel which sees increasing usage of UTF-8 encoded conversations. Recently I discovered, that channel logs have all their UTF-8 mangled by Eggdrop.
   I tried searching the Internet, but the only link to a patch does not work. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?
